Yesterday we had the honor of celebrating Diana's birthday after another awesome day at our clinics. We started our afternoon going up to Masaya Volcano to see the active volcano that can be seen from our hotel. Most of us had never seen an active volcano and the views were absolutely amazing.
We then came back and quickly set up a pinata while Diana was doing an errand (aka distracting her from us setting up). We had a full on Mariachi playing when she arrived to a standing ovation. We had an awesome dance party, and delicious dinner, and then we had our nightly meeting. After our nightly meeting we beat the pinata and like children crawled around getting candy.
We are incredibly thankful to have Diana as our fearless leader and were honored to be able to celebrate with her. She is a kind, generous, caring, incredibly intelligent, and just overall amazing person. She has done so much to plan and create an awesome experience for us and make it so we can help this community in Nicaragua. We have also been able to learn even more and seen another side of her on this trip which has been an absolute blast!
